NAIROBI, Kenya ? A Nairobi-based security official says an explosion has wounded several Kenyan soldiers.
The attack in the northern Kenyan town of Mandera is the sixth in a series of roadside bombs and grenade attacks following the entry of Kenyan troops into Somalia last month.
The official says that it was unclear how many soldiers were wounded in the blast.
A military aircraft was coming to take them to Nairobi, and security forces were combing the streets for suspects.
He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
Kenya sent troops into Somalia to pursue members of the al-Qaida-linked insurgent group al-Shabab after a a string of kidnappings and attacks on Kenyan soil.
