John Elkington, global authority on sustainability, will be the keynote speaker at the Sustainable Business Network (SBN)?s ?Transforming Business? Conference, to be held at Te Papa in Wellington on?4 September 2013.

Identifying practical solutions which help businesses break through ?change as usual? is the focus of the conference.

Co-founder and Executive Chair of Volans, and co-founder of SustainAbility, John is regarded as a ?true green business guru?, and is a world authority on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability.

Inducted into the Sustainability Hall of Fame by the International Society of Sustainability Professionals earlier this year, John is also regularly listed among the top 100 Global Sustainability and CSR Leaders.

?Business leaders are exploring how they can change the rules,?and are asking how business can create a healthy, fair and affordable world for everyone.?Business can be a very effective force for this change: progress can be achieved by ventures which change?the market within which they operate,? he says.

John will join New Zealanders Rebecca Mills, from The B Team, and Rod Oram, business journalist, to explore issues, exchange ideas and develop practical solutions to improve and transform businesses, and move towards a sustainable future.

?SBN members are a fantastic, inspiring group of businesses who recognise they can be a catalyst for positive change, through which they can create greater and broader value for their businesses. If businesses understand the potential for this transformative change, and get the solutions right, the opportunities are massive and global.? I would encourage anyone with an interest in understanding the role of business in the 21st?century economy to attend,? says Rachel Brown, SBN CEO.

Conference delegates will have the opportunity to participate in interactive discussions and breakthrough sessions around the four transformation areas aligned with SBN?s new strategy: renewables, restorative, mega efficiency and community.

?We have recently restructured SBN?s activity into four core subject areas,? says Rachel.

?We call them Transformation Areas as they are the key ways in which business can create breakthrough change, and transform New Zealand into a model sustainable nation.?
