Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions praises Alexander plan

A group called Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions has spent nearly $35,000 on an ad campaign apparently in praise of U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander?s energy policy.

The spot aired over the July 4th holiday weekend according to Federal Communications Commission filings on three Nashville TV stations, more or less simultaneous with the release of the Alexander campaign?s first official spot of the 2014 campaign.

We?ve missed seeing Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions ad on TV first hand, but a version posted on the organization?s website urges Tennesseans to thank Alexander for providing ?real leadership on energy policy? without going into much detail.

The Tennessee Campaign for Liberty, one of the groups that have been trying to gin up interest in a primary challenge to Alexander, called attention to the spot Monday. The group describes Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions as ?left-leaning,? though it also notes that very little is known about it.

If it continues to spend big, that anonymity won?t last long.
