Michael asks?
I have a project pending. My first solo project. Problem is I?ve had my first meeting with client all went well and I didn?t give him any quote at all. But I said I?d research what was necessary to do the job and get back to him in two days
Problem is I have no idea what the going rate is and as most web design companies seem to be rather shy offering online price list breakdowns then I have no idea how to get a fair figure as a quote.
By the way I am an individual and not fully qualified web designer. I think my pages are competitive but certainly not the highest (corporate) quality sites but try to make them look as ?clean? as possible and take pride in what I do.
Really need your help guys. Beginning to panic don?t want to loose this deal as I have so many times before.
PLEASE HELP: DEADLINE tomorrow
admin answers:
You first need to work out how long the job will take you (i.e. 10 web pages at 4 hours each ?)
Having reached an idea of the hours needed, multiply by the hourly rate you want (say ?20 to ?30 per hour)
That would give you the labour price. Just add on an allowance for travel, and any materials
Bingo professional (basic) job costing.
Look confident and smiling when you give the figure to the client. (let them see you are comfortable with it.)
